Chapter History

The Women's International Network of Utility Professionals (WiNUP), formerly the Electrical Women’s Round Table Inc., was founded in 1923 and incorporated as a non-profit 501(c) (6) in 1927. Our mission is to provide a link for developing and recognizing professionals involved with utility business trends, issues, products and services.
We serve this mission through three objectives:

Ø  Provide opportunities for professional development of members

Ø  Provide networking and mentoring among members

Ø  Provide recognition and visibility for members and business partners

WiNUP is now comprised of 16 chapters representing 12 states.

WiNUP's Ohio chapter was chartered in 1990 with 10 founding members and is the currently the only active chapter in the state of Ohio.  There were previously three other Ohio chapters- Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati-Dayton.  All three disbanded in the 70's.

In 2010, the Ohio chapter exanded it's membership into non-electric areas and now has members representing electir, natrual gas and energy related fields.  The Ohio chapter is the largest of the 16 WiNUP chapters with 143 members in 2013. (chart of past years memberhip numbers)

The Ohio chapter is proud to be actively committed at the local and international levels.  Eight of the past 48 international presidents have hailed from the Ohio chapter.  They are, Judith Wessell (1992-1993), Donna Kowalenko (1997-1998), Kim Thompson (2002), Terri Berliner (2007), Lila Munsey (2010), Vikki Michalski (2011), Velda Otey (2012) and Janet Rehberg (2014).
